"On the seventh day, our Lord, the creator of everything, tired of his work, rested. And Our Lord fell asleep and when he slept, a melody fell through his ear to his head and did not want to leave it until our Lord gave it a name. And the Lord said - it will be Polka. And it was." (a fragment of the text "Polka" - I. Gorzkowski)
Polka is a fast dance.
Polka is a musical form in the even meter. Polka is a woman.
"Polka" is a collage whose plot structure is determined by the life cycle of a woman from her birth to her death.
7 women, 7 deadly sins, 7 days of the week.
What is Polka like?
What does she do?
What does she do not?
What does she eat for breakfast?
What did she not manage to do?
What is she dreaming about?
What is she praying for?
To whom or to what?
Is she passionate?
What is she waiting for?
The premiere of "Polka" is part of the program of the Year of the Gods 2018 at the Polish Dance Theater. Its idea focuses on Polish divine matters, characters and symbolism in which the divinity of phenomena and figures is understood as usage or acclamation, social recognition or self-recognition. The Year of the Gods is part of the program of the Polish Dance Theater for the years 2016-2020, with the slogan "Polish/Greater Polish", which aims at glorifying the Polish art.
