About the performance:
Like sepia-toned, "old-fashioned" photographs bathed in warm shades of brown, afterimages of past experiences jumbled by memory, which has its own subjective chronology, the choreographic images conjured by Jo Strømgren from a magic hat remind us that memories, though fleeting and existing immaterially, do not lose their reality.
Echoes and mirages of events, shuffled by the passing of time, snippets of what has passed, a nostalgic look back and from afar - the performance "The Hat" draws the viewer into a séance of memory that allows one to penetrate the hidden meanings of what is old, past, not fully realized.
The hazy images, with slightly blurred contours, show phantasms of performances, interpersonal situations, rapprochements and distances, departures and returns, speak several languages of the world and a dozen languages, which are "spoken" by the bodies of the dancers of the Polish Dance Theater.
What else can be taken out of the hat? What action will this (un)ordinary object set in motion?
