About Bodytalk

.

Artistic collective founded in 2008 in Cologne by Rolf Baumgart, director, composer and author of opera librettos, and Yoshiko Waki, a soloist and choreographer of Japanese descent who has worked with dance companies around the world from Hamburg to Hong Kong. Drawing on the experience of the famous Johann Kresnik Choreographic Theater, of which Yoshiko Waki was a member, Bodytalk creates performances that are imbued with emotion and heat, described by German dance critics as "intelligently noisy" or "Dionysian." Bodytalk's trademark is live music, performed during each performance. The collective creates theater firmly rooted in the local community, engaging in many community projects. Since 2016, he has been invited as an artist-in-residence by the Theater at Pumpenhaus in Münster(Germany). His work has received numerous awards, including the Movement-Art award for the best independent production of the year and the Bremen Award for Authors and Producers.
