National Dancing will be held as part of the DanceMY campaign, whose patron is the National Institute of Music and Dance

.

From April 23 to 29, the spaces of the Polish Dance Theater will host the 4th International Dance Theater Festival "Borders of Nature - Borders of Culture."

The first day of this international event will feature the premiere of the performance "24/7 New Sins," created in cooperation with the bodytalk collective from Münster. On the last day - the action National Dancing, a street procession in the scenery of the city, which will march down Stanislaw Taczak Street to the rhythm of Wojciech Kilar's polonaise from the film "Pan Tadeusz."

The remaining days will be filled with performances from the USA, Norway and Israel, as well as a performance by the "You Are Everything" Foundation, a jubilee accent on the 50th anniversary of the Polish Dance Theater.

The program of the Fourth International Festival "Boundaries of Nature - Boundaries of Culture" is constructed to juxtapose the viewer's perception with the richness and diversity of methods of combining theater and dance. Evoke emotions, provoke discussion, move, and at the same time focus attention on the exploration of issues relevant to modernity.

Are there limits, or do we create them ourselves? Where does the end of our humanity reach?

"24/7 New Sins" choreographed and directed by Yoshiko Waki, an artist of Japanese descent from the brutalist tradition of the famous Johann Kresznik Choreographic Theater, confronts us with the biblical concept of the 7 deadly sins, inspiring us to rethink what it is to cross the line between good and evil. This is bodytalk's fourth co-production with the Polish Dance Theater (Poznań), following JEWROPE (2014 Cologne City Dance Theater Award), SOLIDARITOT (recognized as "Performance of the Year" in the 2019 "Jahrbuch tanz" - Dance Yearbook) and ROMEOS & JULIAS UNPLAGUED.TRAUMSTADT (main prize Golden Yorick at the 26th International Shakespeare Festival in Gdansk in 2022).

Performance "You Are Everything" explores the boundaries hidden in our own existence, encouraging us to cross them.

"Feminal"Rebecca Hoback, a Nashville (USA) based full-time artist specializing in solo choreography that embodies experiences of everyday life and transformation, will address the mechanisms of constructing the stereotypical female image and the traditional, established clichés that mark the boundaries of the feminine and the unfeminine.

"The Loft" Jo Stømgren Kompani choreographed by Jo Stømgren, a highly internationally recognized Scandinavian artist well known to Polish Dance Theater regulars, resident choreographer at the Oslo National Opera and Ballet and creator of the Polish Dance Theater's anniversary production "Out of the Hat," explores themes of control, restraint and passion, reminding us that today we still struggle with the issue of violating boundaries in relationships, coexisting with others in claustrophobic spaces in life.

On the other hand, the "Kacha" Kolben Dance Company, a contemporary dance company breathing the atmosphere of Jerusalem on a daily basis, realizing its mission to create dance that is an act of thought, will strongly engage audiences on a personal level, encouraging them to ask questions of themselves. Questions that are not always comfortable, but have the power to open the door to deeper self-discovery and push the boundaries of one's comfort zone.

The culminating moment of the Festival, which we would very much like to see draw crowds and multi-generational participation, will be the National Dance. This is a community action, open to every person, to join the dancing procession that will move to the rhythm of the polonaise in the space of Stanislaw Taczak Street.

The date of the event - April 29 - is not coincidental, this day marks the International Day of Dance and the nationwide action DanceMY, whose patron is the National Institute of Music and Dance. The event refers to the most primal function of dance, which is to build and bond a community, blurring the boundaries between "self" and "other." This year's National Dance will take an unusual shape, thanks to the multicultural intermingling of sources and dance inspirations. Among those who will be with us are the "Łany" Song and Dance Group, the "Łaniki" Song and Dance Group, the "Chludowianie" Song and Dance Group, the "Modraki" Children's Folk Song and Dance Group, the "You Are Everything" Foundation, as well as Salsation and "Lelewelki." Both canonical performances and freestyle interpretations of the polonaise with a lot of improvisation and spontaneity are welcome!

Free entry.

Of course, on April 29 we will announce the 8th edition of the International Competition "1 Page - 1 Look - 180 Seconds".

We cordially invite you!
