"The Beast" won the competition for best dance film at the ReelHeART International Film and Screenplay Festival in Toronto.

First prize in competition with films from around the world!

This international festival (this year's 20th anniversary edition) promotes independent and experimental cinema from around the world under the slogan "all cultures in one place."

It is distinguished from other film festivals by its great openness to a variety of genres. There are more than 30 competition categories to choose from - feature films and short narratives, drama, comedy, black comedy, science fiction, fantasy, film noir, mockumentary, animation, music videos, documentaries and, of course, dance films.

The festival's main focus is on the arts.

Called a "filmmakers' festival" or "film bootcamp," or intensive training in a particular subject, the ReelHeart Festival is considered in the film industry to be the only one that supports filmmakers in addressing challenges at various stages of filmmaking.

Many of the ReelHeART Festival winners have gone on to work with famous Hollywood studios such as CAA, Paramount and Disney. They have also served on the jury of the Golden Globes in the UK and other international competitions.

The ReelHeART Festival is the first of its kind.

This is another award for "The Beast," which has already accumulated the International Play Short Film Award, the top prize of the New Renaissance Film Festival in Amsterdam and the Audience Award at YoFiFest 2023 in Yonkers, New York.

Following the human-animal idiom, Polish Dance Theater's choreographic film project "Beast," directed by Iwona Pasinska, provokes reflection on the nature of the relationship between animals and humans. The plot of "The Beast" is set in the meadows and an old sheepfold in the Greater Poland village of Komorowo, whose idyllic landscape provides a perverse backdrop for the story.

The premiere of "The Beast" took place on Christmas Eve night, December 24, 2022, when, according to legend, animals speak with a human voice. This film image can be read through the prism of the current situation in the world. One interpretive clue is the winter camouflage uniforms - the costumes of the dancers, which were given to the Ukrainian army after the project was completed.
