On November 28, the Inshadow Lisbon ScreenDance Festival will feature the world premiere of the seventh film project of the Polish Dance Theater, directed by Iwona Pasinska, titled "The History of Dance. "Historiae vivae".
In addition to the premiere screening, the In Shadow Festival will present a retrospective review of choreographic film projects directed by Iwona Pasinska and produced by the Polish Dance Theater. They have been recognized by the festival organizers as "one of the most individualized voices in contemporary dance film."
As the review's originators emphasize, the 70-minute program of six films will be "a journey through a separate choreographic and cinematic universe, which is characterized by an interdisciplinary fusion of visual arts, music and contemporary dance."
For the FIRST time, a choreographic film project by the Polish Dance Theater begins its screen life at an international festival.
"Historiae vivae," directed by Iwona Pasinska and performed by the Polish Dance Theater, draws on various forms of expression, from line art to paste-up, patchwork and cartoon, to resurrect the unique atmosphere of silent film. Imbued with the warmth exuded by body language, and at the same time made unreal by the black-and-white tonality, these "splatters of everyday life" allow us to take a trip back in time, to the beginnings of cinema. In a light-hearted and humorous way, they tell about ordinary things that become extraordinary thanks to the magic of the silver screen.
