.Co-produced by the Polish-American Agency of the Copernicus Foundation in cooperation with the Polish-Ukrainian I. J. Paderewski Foundation and the Polish Dance Theater.
The Year 2025 at the Polish Dance Theater is realized within the idiom "Man - Technology". This area binds the most important substantive event in the discussion with or against new technologies. Cooperation with the Polish-Ukrainian Ignacy Paderewski Foundation, which for fifteen years has been present in the cultural life of Lviv and more broadly Ukraine, Poland and the USA by organizing many events, commemorating important anniversaries and jubilees related to Polish culture and history. Lviv-born Stanislaw Lem, a Polish futurologist and author of countless novels and short stories of the hard science fiction genre, was chosen several years ago (the 100th anniversary of his birth) for a special honor - to write a musical work for stage performance. The Polish Dance Theater has taken on the co-organization of the play "Solaris," for which music has already been written, but whose premiere will take place on November 11, 2025 in Lviv. The Polish premiere is scheduled for December 18, 2025 at PTT, and the American premiere is scheduled for May 2026 in Chicago.
The creators of the project attempt to show Lem's work in a timeless and universal perspective, addressing fundamental questions about the essence of humanity, memory and consciousness. The performance has a metaphysical dimension - it is a story about the relationship between light and darkness, the present and the past, man and technology. At its center is a human being - a being still searching for meaning in a world that is creating more and more, but understanding less and less.
