Polish Dance Theater has launched the project "Dance Odysseys. Polish Dance Theater's tour of the world's stages".
As part of the tour, the artistic team presented the performance "24/7 New Sins". - the latest premiere realized
in cooperation with Bodytalk, choreographed and directed by Yoshiko Waki on the stages of LOFFT - DAS THEATRE in Leipzig, May 3, 4 and 5, 2024.

He will present his next performances in South Korea and again in Germany.

These are stories about memory, about cherishing it, about forgetting and remembering what matters most to everyone. They are odysseys about diversity, attentiveness, being and relationships that affect our world every day, about the ability to preserve history and care for memories.

Each of these performances is an odyssey, a journey into the depths of human beings, their relationships, memories and dreams.

"24/7 New Sins" choreographed and directed by Yoshiko Waki, an artist of Japanese descent from the brutalist tradition of the famous Johann Kresznik Choreographic Theater, confronts us with the biblical concept of the 7 deadly sins, inspiring us to rethink what it is to cross the line between good and evil. This is bodytalk's fourth co-production with the Polish Dance Theater (Poznań), following JEWROPE (2014 Cologne City Dance Theater Award), SOLIDARITOT (recognized as "Performance of the Year" in the 2019 "Jahrbuch tanz" - Dance Yearbook) and ROMEOS & JULIAS UNPLAGUED.TRAUMSTADT (main prize Golden Yorick at the 26th International Shakespeare Festival in Gdansk in 2022).

"45" is a large-scale show, dissected for the dancers' creations with the artful language of Jacek Przybyłowicz. It draws on the physical intensity of contemporary Israeli dance, the elegance of neoclassical forms and the unfettered imagination of the modern dancer. The play with the rules of symmetry, the ornateness of the details, the pastel tones, the minimalism of the costumes, the fine lighting direction and the energetic duet of percussion and saxophone create a sophisticated composition. 45 is a non-linear story of the theater's 45-year history. A collective portrait of young artists scaled by teamwork and the choice of art as a way of life. An invitation for the viewer to take an interactive journey in a site-specific space.

The Hat

.

Like sepia-toned, "old-fashioned" photographs bathed in warm shades of brown, afterimages of past experiences jumbled by a memory that has its own subjective chronology, the choreographic images conjured up by Jo Strømgren from a magic hat remind us that memories, though fleeting and existing immaterially, are not a vestige of their reality.

The work's echoes and mirages are a reminder that memories, though fleeting and existing immaterially, are not a vestige of their reality.

Echoes and mirages of events, shuffled by the passing of time, snippets of what has passed, a nostalgic look back and from afar - the performance "Out of the Hat" draws the viewer into a séance of memory, which allows one to penetrate the hidden meaning of what is old, past, not fully realized.

.

What else can be taken out of the hat? What action will be set in motion by this (un)ordinary object

.

Harvest

This is a story about a community that lives and dies in the cyclical rhythm of Nature.

The sensual aura of Midsummer night, a touch of Polish agrarian culture, inspired by the works of Oskar Kolberg and the Polish Year of Zofia Kossak-Szczucka. The mythical tale of Odysseus' return to Ithaca on the basis of Stanisław Wyspiański's Return of Odysseus. Compositions by Eugeniusz Rudnik - pioneer of Polish electronic music and Kurpie love songs performed by Adam Strug. Ascetic visuals, dominated by costumes woven from jute. The heterogeneity of the performance's material embodies the double face of the harvest cycle. Mythical - understood as the succession of birth and death in the rhythm of the seasons; existential - revealing the dark areas of human nature - the sowing and harvesting of hatred.
