Every year a dance procession celebrates International Dance Day in this way, moving to the beat of the polonaise in an improvised or canonical manner.
For years, dance troupes of various connotations (including: folk, historical, social, street, modern, oriental, disco, as well as community: senior and children's) have been joining us.
The dance procession is a part of the International Day of Dance.
Who can take part?
Everyone! You don't need to have experience - what counts is the desire to have fun together.
Anyone can participate.
National Dancing will take place on the final day of the International Dance Theater Festival "Borders of Nature - Borders of Culture", organized by the Polish Dance Theater.
The event will be held as part of the DANCE WE campaign, which is organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance. It's an initiative that unites dance enthusiasts in a joint celebration of International Dance Day.
The event will be held at the National Institute of Music and Dance.
Remember that International Dance Day was established in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute (ITI-UNESCO). The date of the holiday was chosen to commemorate the baptism of the outstanding reformer of the art of dance, creator of the European ballet theater, French dancer and choreographer Jean-Georges Noverre.
On December 5, 2023, the polonaise was inscribed on UNESCO's World Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The event will be held as part of the 5th International Dance Theater Festival "Boundaries of Nature - Boundaries of Culture", subsidized from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for Promotion of Culture - a state purpose fund, within the framework of the "Dance" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance, as well as from a special purpose grant from the Local Government of the Wielkopolska Region.
