In the era of a pandemic-induced economic crisis, Fighting for Fire... takes on a topical dimension as a diagnosis of man's destructive actions in the name of technological development, which may lead to the annihilation of civilization.
At the same time, the play universalizes the message, posing the question whether the phenomena in which we are inclined to see the pathologies of late capitalism are not, by chance, a manifestation of the eternal - and unchanging - behavior of the human species.
The Fight for Fire and Economic Growth is a choreographed fantasy about the interspecies struggle for survival and a better life. It is an attempt to enter the consciousness, sensitivity and motility of other species, freeing them from the trap of anthropocentrism. It's a journey that spans billions of years and the infinite multiplicity of shapes that life can take - from single-celled organisms, to primates, to materializations of possible existences, derived from the concept of speculative zoology. A journey to appreciate the diverse beauty of human and non-human life forms.
Fight for Fire and Growth will be shown on April 28 at 8:00 p.m.
