On the second day of the 5th edition of the International Festival "1 Page - 1 Look - 180 Seconds," the Polish Dance Theater will host Tangaj Collective, an interdisciplinary Romanian group working at the intersection of science and art.

On Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. in the Small Studio of the Polish Dance Theater, the artists will present a performance BLOT-BODY LINE OF THOUGHT, exploring - through movement - how microbial entities affect processes in the human body and how they connect us to the planet.

BLOT (BODY LINE OF THOUGHT) is a 42-minute performance showcasing the body as an interconnected system, strong and fragile at the same time, which cannot exist apart from the multiplicity it contains and without interaction with the environment. It is a combination of a conference and a choreographic show. It tells the story of similarities between humans and other animals, such as sweating, smelling, reproduction, physical exertion and resilience. Stripped of the social meanings set by language, in BLOT the body is redefined through a dialogue about our coexistence with microorganisms. The performers work on seemingly invisible connections, without which, however, the human body could not function.

BLOT analyzes human existence through dependence and control, focusing on the thin line between what is useful and what is toxic. Our bodies are imprinted with unique microbial traces that define our identity. Often the challenge to our social choreography is the imbalance between the inner and outer worlds that we constantly disrupt.

Tangay Collective comes to us from Bucharest. It is an interdisciplinary organization that connects artists and researchers, founded by choreographer and director Simona Deaconescu, working in the fields of dance film, performing and visual arts. Simona Deaconescu's work is influenced by both the exploration of different fields of art and scientific research. She is interested in the borderline between science - fiction and objective reality, often viewed with irony and black humor. The artist is widely recognized, as evidenced by numerous awards and nominations-in 2016, she received the CNDB - National Center for Dance Award for her contribution to Romanian contemporary dance. In 2018 and 2022, she was nominated for the Aerowaves Artist Award for her works "Counterbody" and "Choreomaniacs".In 2015, she became co-founder and artistic director of the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival. This year, at the invitation of the Polish Dance Theater, she is a juror of the 7th edition of the International Competition "1 Page - 1 Look - 180 Seconds" in the field of "dance film".

Tickets for the BLOT performance, priced at PLN 90(N) and PLN 60(U), can be purchased at tickets24.pl and at the headquarters of the Polish Dance Theater, from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
