An anniversary accent of the V Festival "1 page - 1 look - 180 seconds" will be, presented on request of the audience, the documentary film "My Theater" directed by Radek Wysocki, telling the history of the Polish Dance Theater from the perspective of a surprising narrator. We invite you to the Large Studio of the Polish Dance Theater on December 16 at 6 pm.
The history of the Polish Dance Theater and its successes is one thing, it is difficult to count them and mention them all, all the more so in a not very long film; however, life - neither human life nor theater life - consists of victories alone. Therefore, take my word for it, the theater director has nothing to envy. And I don't mean this particular theater, or even a theater that has been searching for its place on Earth for almost five decades. Because the life of the theater is not only poetry, but largely prose, and sometimes, unfortunately, drama. Imagine any drama or drama in life, and there's a good chance it happened to any theater in the world. Fire? Here you go: The National Theater in Warsaw has burned five times. If historians are to be believed, 1,200 theaters in the world burned down in the 19th century.
Fire, moreover, has more than one name. When the Polish Dance Theater left for Italy in the first months of martial law in Poland, 14 people, including thirteen dancers, did not return to Poland from that trip. Director Conrad Drzewiecki was devastated. If a fire doesn't suit you here, how about an earthquake?
Our film, of course, is not only about disasters. The legend of the Polish Dance Theater was, of course, built first and foremost by successes; as much, in fact, as by precedence and innovation. Telling a story that began 50 years ago, it's hard not to fall into nostalgia, so tissues may come in handy. All the more so because it is also in part a road movie - in the literal and figurative sense of those words. After all, the journey of the Polish Dance Theater is not only performances on the stages of five continents, but also a journey through time and a search for one's own identity. There is something to remember. There is something to remember.
But there is no reason to be frightened that - listening to the memories of former employees and witnesses to this history - you will be bored to the proverbial death. No human being speaks out in this film.
