At the invitation of the Grand Theater - National Opera, the Polish Dance Theater (PTT) will perform during the 14th edition of Dance Art Days. On November 25 at 7 p.m., in Moniuszko Hall, one of the world's largest opera houses, we will present as many as two performances during one evening.

It will be a diptych comprised of two international PTT co-productions - "Out of the Hat," prepared especially for the 50th anniversary of the Polish Dance Theater by prominent Norwegian choreographer Jo Strømgren, and "Romeos&Julias unplagued. Traumstadt" choreographed by Yoshiko Waki and dramaturgy by Rolf Baumgart of the German bodytalk collective.

Jo Strømgren is one of the most internationally renowned Scandinavian choreographers, theater director, dance filmmaker, resident of the Norwegian National Opera and Oslo Ballet, winner of many prestigious awards, including the Norwegian Critics Association Award in 1998, the Hedda Award (2003) and Lithuania's prestigious Golden Cross of the Stage Award (2018). His magical piece "Out of the Hat," built on the order of memory, allows us to feel the reality of memories, which, although fleeting and existing immaterially, do not lose their reality. The Poznan premiere of the co-production was held on September 12, 2023, exactly on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Polish Dance Theater by Conrad Drzewiecki. The world premiere of the performance took place on October 26, 2023 on the stage of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo. The presentation at the Grand Theater in Warsaw will be its Polish premiere.

The performance "Romeos&Julias unplagued. Traumstadt", building an analogy between the modern coronavirus epidemic and the plagues of the Renaissance, tells the story of Romeo and Juliet in several different ways, juxtaposing the need for closeness with the compulsion of social distance. It premiered at the Malta Festival Poznań in 2021, and had its German premiere on July 7, 2021 at the Uferstudios in Berlin. The play also received one of the most important theater awards in Poland. During the 26th Shakespeare Festival in Gdansk, it was awarded the Golden Yorick Award - the top prize in the competition for the best Polish staging of William Shakespeare's dramatic works and works inspired by the works of William Shakespeare.

The Art of Dance Days is a review of dance performances, mainly ballet, organized annually by the Grand Theater - National Opera. This year, the Polish National Ballet is reviving a grand fairy tale show for the occasion - "Bayadera" based on the classic choreography by Marius Petipa with music by Ludwig Minkus. There will also be a performance by the new youth PBN Junior-group formed at the Polish National Ballet.
